Babies and security items

Question

my baby girl will be one in 12 days, and she has no security item, is this normal, she equally enjoys all her toys and blankies, actually she loves blankies, but never cries for one or needs one.shes not interested in pacifiers or dolls to much either. i almost feel like shes missing something important. what do you think?

I think it totally depends on the child! My son is obsessed with his "night night" this blanket we got him when he was 6 months old. My best friends child is the same way but hers is the pacifier.

I had a Baby pillow when i was a baby..I'm 18 right now and I STILL sleep with it!!! I can't sleep without it! When i was 12 or 13 i got a stuffed animal of a Cow and i sleep with that every night!

I got my cow when i got sick...I went into complete kidney failure so it really helped having my pillow and cow!

maybe she gets all the security she needs from mommy, and you are just a good parent with a happy, healthy little girl.  i dont remember having a security item myself...i'll have to ask my mom:)

No she is just fine!  I was just reading an email tonight about security items, or lovies,...did you get the same one?  LOL

I was thinking about how my 10 mos old daughter doesn't have one either...oh wait she does have one..ME!  Best wishes!

some kids just do not need them. My older son did not ever have one. My daughter had a particular TYPE of blanket that she gravitated to...but it did not matter the color or scent.Right now she has a fleece pillow that she sleeps with (it is currently lost because she drags it around the house) My youngest son did not really have one for ages. Almost a year ago he got 2 beanie babies and he named them "ah-ah" and "kitty". he goes through phases where he refers to them as "my babies" and drags them everywhere.

If your daughter needs one, she will find one. even expressed breastmilk on different objects could not make my older son pick one.
