  1. yes medications (antibiotics in particular) do cause yeast infections...

  2. Antibiotics can cause Yeast Infections. In fact they are one of the leading causes of Yeast Infections.

When you take them for a ear infection, they can kill off the good bacteria as well, causing a Yeast Infection.

  3. general ill health can be a cause or a symptom of a low immune system.  if your baby's defences are occupied fighting ear infections, which are chronic in some children (myself included, when i was younger), they will be more likely to catch anything else that is going round.

yeast infections are very common in infants.  the fungus that causes them is present all the time, but most people's immune systems are strong enough to deal with it.  babies and small children have weaker defences anyway, and combined with existing illness, she is more susceptible.

added to this, certain medications can actually weaken the body's natural defences.  when my niece was a little baby (~3 months), she had a series of yeast infections, which caused her to have colic and wind, and gave her diarrhoea - so it may be the yeast infection that's causing her to p**p rather than the other way around - but this can also be caused by certain medications.

the good news is, thrush and other yeast infections are usually very easy to treat.

you need to make sure that if your child is ill a lot, she is getting enough vitamins, particularly vitamin C, in her diet.  green vegetables and citrus fruits are good ways to provide this.

  4. i really dont know and i have never heard of yeasts infections before...

go to your baby's doctor alone and find out if there is such a thing and is it caused by the medicine.
