Question:

Babies in the workplace?

I keep reading and hearing about this new trend to have babies in the workplace. Some companies are allowing parents to have their babies in their office at work and work their job and parent the baby. This really seems strange to me, because it makes a baby sound like a plant to put on your desk at work. As if you can get plenty of your work done because a baby is easy breezy like a plant you put on your desk at work. I just have to water it once in a while.

What's your opinion about babies in the workplace? What's your opinion? Do you think it works and if so how does it work?

  1. Might sound like a good option, but I dont think it will work:

    1) The child will get almost no attention from you, unless they are an infant they will notice this and can become upset.

    2) If you do manage to pay your child enough attention you are certainly not doing your job to your best ability, so if things come to layoffs you should expect to be at the top of the list.  Jobs need your focus and you cant do that while caring for the welfare of a child.

  2. I don't think it is fair to co-workers to bring children into the workplace.  I say this because quite often other people end up becoming the babysittter and that is not fair.  I don' t think parents should feel that they can't share their family with their co-workers, but bringing children to work goes above what is allowed at work.
