Babolat Riga International 2012 Open: Plavin Alan and Bartusis Povilas claim Men’s Doubles crown
Lithuania’s Plavin Alan and Bartusis Povilas have stamped their supremacy as they have claimed Men’s Doubles crown after beating their team-mates Slusnys Edgaras and Reznikas Ignas in the final encounter of Babolat Riga International 2012 Open, in Latvia,
on Sunday, January 29.
Plavin and Bartusis surprised the local crowd by playing aggressive and flawless badminton against their team-mates in the final contest and grabbed the title in a fabulous manner.
It was a completely one-sided fight as Plavin and Bartusis did not show any mercy to their challengers and finished the match in just 13 minutes without losing even a single game to their team-mates.
On the other hand, Slusnys and Reznikas could not live up to the expectations as they failed to put up even a meagre resistance to their country-mates and lost the match without impressing the crowd.
Plavin and Bartusis started the first game in a stunning way as they played at their maximum speed from the opening points. They delivered phenomenal performance in the initial rallies and remained successful in taking an early advantage.
The positive and attacking approach of Plavin and Bartusis helped them to take a wonderful lead in the first half of the opening set.
After the break, Plavin and Bartusis remained positive and played fast game at the net. They did not show any respect to their compatriots in the first set and took it with an unbelievable margin of 21-8.
In the following set, Slusnys and Reznikas played better game in the opening points and managed to progress equally to their opponents. However, Plavin and Bartusis controlled the pace of rallies and took a comfortable lead until the opening half.
After the break, Slusnys and Reznikas tried to increase their speed but could not dominate the pace as they lost their focus and executed many negative strokes.
On the other hand, Plavin and Bartusis kept the pace of rallies at the highest level and pushed their challengers in a defensive position. They did not commit any mistake in the concluding part of second game and won it with a tremendous margin of 21-12.
The overall score of this 13-minutes Men’s Doubles final contest was 21-8 and 21-12.
