Babolat Riga International 2012 Open: Plavin Alan trounces Kapp Kaspar to win Men’s Singles title
Lithuania’s talented shuttler, Plavin Alan, has nailed Men’s Singles title after beating Estonia’s Kapp Kaspar in the title match of Men’s Singles Group-A at the Babolat Riga International 2012 Open, in Latvia, on Sunday, January 29.
Plavin, who has been playing flawless badminton in all round matches of the tournament, continued his impressive winning run in the final showdown and bagged the title in an emphatic manner.
The Lithuanian shuttler displayed his remarkable skills against his Estonian rival and ended the final battle in straight games by taking just 23 minutes in the court.
Right from the start of the final match, Plavin remained dominant as he was taking the bird early and placed his strokes in right areas.
On the other hand, Kaspar also matched the speed of his rival in the opening half. His powerful smashes and net killings were impressive. However, his opponents managed a small lead until the one-minute break in the first set.
In the second half of the opening set, Kaspar failed to live up to expectations as he failed to play positive badminton against his Lithuanian challenger and remained trailing far behind.
Plavin was focused in the game as he did not commit any mistake in the second half of opening set. He remained quicker in all areas of the court and played positive badminton and took the first game with a six-point margin of 21-15.
In the second set, Plavin opened the game in an attacking style and established an early lead over his rival. He continued playing positive badminton and set up a comfortable difference until the break.
After the break, Kaspar tried his best to reduce the deficit but failed as his Lithuanian opponent was in his prime form. Plavin did not miss even a single chance to finish the rallies and maintained pressure on his rival.
The positive and planned game of Plavin helped him to end the second set with a stunning 21-12 margin on the score board.
This 23-minute final contest ended up with the victory of Plavin who ended it with a superb difference of 21-15 and 21-12.
