Babs has a Gift for winning in A6 race at Sheffield

It is often said that greyhounds are among the most gifted dog breeds. Originally bred as hunting dogs, these sensational sprinters now showcase their skills daily at racing tracks across
the country. As gifted as these dogs with their racing, some are also blessed with the gift of winning.
Babs Gift is one do who is gifted with the ability to win, and that is exactly what she did in today’s A6 race at the Sheffield Greyhound Stadium. She held an early pace out of trap four,
but crowded the run in. However, her 30.48 finish secured the victory for her. Matching Babs Gift’s time of 30.48 seconds was 7-4 favourite Haydns Girl, who was just a shoulder’s length behind, despite crowding the run in.
Third place went to Myth Or Legend (3-1), who finished ¾ lengths behind second with a time of 30.54, after crowding at first. Dualla Caoimhe (4-1) was forced to check first, but ran to
a 30.66 finish that was 1½ lengths behind Myth Or Legend. Finishing ¾ lengths behind her was Troggy Dan (7-2), who crowded third en route to a 30.72 finish. Despite holding every chance in this race, Express Style (4-1) ended up in last place. His time of
30.90 placed him 2¼ lengths out of fifth place.
Another gifted contender emerged victorious in the A5 race. This time, it was Grannies Gift (4-1) who claimed the top spot, finishing in fine form with a time of 30.48. She crowded first,
but rebounded to lead fourth and ultimately win this race. Only a shoulder’s length behind her was Grandad Jim (4-1), who also finished the race in 30.48. He crowded first and fourth, but ran on to finish second.
Black Fathead, the 7-4 favourite to win, placed third in 30.50, which was a head behind Grandad Jim. He soon led to fourth, but crowded later on. The number four spot went to 11-4 long
shot Ville La How, who was always handy, and raced to a 30.70 finish. He was 2½ lengths out of the top three.
Despite having every chance to win, Rocket Rachel (5-1) failed to blast off today, and finished the race in fifth place. Her time of 30.72 was a neck behind Ville La How. Crowding at first
and being forced to check third resulted in a last-place finish for Threerocks Dino (4-1), whose 31.28 finish was 7 lengths behind the fifth-place finisher.
The dogs will continue to showcase their gift for winning Tuesday afternoon, when Sheffield Greyhound Stadium presents a 14-race card. The racing gets under way with an A8 race at 14:18.
