Question:

Baby #3...how long is labor "supposed" to be?

I know everyone is different but I was just curious as to what is the word on how long labor is for the third child. I know theysay the first is the longest and the second is usually a lot faster, what's the third supposed to be like?

You're right everyone is different.  It just depends to be honest.  Usually once you have a child the labors are "supposed" to be shorter but that's not always the case.  My first child I was in labor for 3 hours, from start to finish.  My second it was 12 hours start to finish, my third it was 9 total.  It all depends.  Good luck though.


  2. that's not always the case. a woman i work with has 5 kids and her third was her longest labor. how long were your first and second labors? the third SHOULD be a little shorter than your second but it may not be THAT much shorter.

    my grandmother never had a labor that lasted longer than 4 hours, she had her last baby about 45 minutes after her first contraction.

  3. Well my first was the fastest, my second was longer because of a cord around his neck so the labor kept stalling so I am praying that this third delivery will go as fast as my first.  They say each delivery is suppose to go faster because your body knows what to do but there can be complications that stall things too.
