Question:

Baby's first haircut

How old was your little one when they got their first hair cut...did you do it at home or take them somewhere to have it done...and how did they react?

I'm terrified that our son (10 1/2 months old and very long hair) will get excited and move too much...I know I can't do it at home, but don't know if I trust someone else with scissors near my child!

  1. My oldest son was 10 1/2 months old as well.  He was a little wiggle worm as well.  We took him to a girl to have his done and she was very good and professional with him.  You may have to just hold him on your lap.

  2. Our oldest was about 1½.  His hair grew really slow!  My MIL is a hair dresser so we took him to her shop after hours.  I had the same fears but he did really well.  It's a good idea to bring him after a nap and when he has a full belly (basically, when they are their happiest!), and bring a few little toys to distract him with.

Now that he's older it's even more difficult!

  3. I starting cutting my son's hair when he was 18 mths. not all barbers cut hair for children that young. I have to sit in the chair with my son when he get his hair cut and he's 2 now.

  4. I took my son to the Barber shop on his first b-day, he sat there like a champ. he didn't move or cry. i wanted to cry because i was so proud.
