Question:

Baby Bearded Dragon questions?

First, Is it okay if I house it in a 40 gallon breeder tank from the beginning? And two, I have heard somewhere that I shouldn't put hiding spots in there when it is a baby (because it will hide instead of eat). Is that true? Thanks for any answers!

  1. Sure, that tank is fine as long as it has a basking area, and hides in the basking area/hot side and cooler area.

Our baby has several hiding spots, but she eats just fine.  She goes right after crickets and loves to hunt.  We feed her veggies and fruit by hand, out of her habitat.

  2. Are you asking if you can place it in a large tank?

Or, are you asking if you can place it with other lizards?

If the thing gets hungry, it will come out to eat. The ideal thing is to socialize it - touch and hold it often.

It can/should be placed in as large a tank as possible - not that it will, but that way it can get some exercise.

I understand that bearded dragons don't like other bearded dragons - but, if they start out young together in a tank, what's the difference? And, otherwise, how would they breed?!
