Question:

Baby Bird Fell from Nest?

I'm so lucky to have a barn swallow nest above my front door for the 2nd year in a row. This is their 2nd clutch of eggs. I stepped out and saw a tiny baby bird (still eyes closed) on the concrete below covered in ants. It was still moving and so I got a ladder and put it back in its nest. When I make noise its 3 siblings peek out for food but I don't see him. It's only a few short days old from what I would guess.

Did I do the right thing? Suddenly I'm worried that if it dies up there, that it will attract parasites or something yucky that will harm the healthy birds. Or will Mom and Dad push it out?

Thanks,

  1. I suggest you check out if the bird is fine. If it died, sadly you must remove it and try to clean out the nest without the mother noticing. You could have called a vet to confirm everything was alright but all the same you tried.

  2. Most Lovable you are You did so no need to check again but always use cloth for catching any BIRD, specially in above case as you are returning but parents catching the smell of Human Being, not admitting also normally SWALLOWS are not making nest like this places, In Jangle I can see as 7:23 am, Just returned & not today several times watched a pair & different are there.
