I just got two baby chickens from a fair. I have a cat and I am deathly afraid for them to meet. How should I introduce them to each other? What's the safest way? Should I even introduce the? Help me out, please! :]

  1. The cat may try to eat the chicks, so I'd introduce the cat and the chicks by holding them in your hand and showing them to the cat.  Keep them away from the cat until they're full grown.  The cat should become familiar with them, but should also be kept separate.  After the chickens have grown up, the cat still may need to be kept separate from the chickens, because it could still try to eat them.  Cats are predators, after all.  Also, make sure that the chickens are well fed and have a large enough coup for both of them.  Cramped chickens could attack each other, like they do on factory farms.

  2. If want to have a face off that's fine but your cat wont know what to think the baby's wont care so be careful the cat doesn't think they are dinner. for the pecking do they have food and water they could be hungry and if you allow this to go on they could kill each other from this pecking keep warm and dry a clean box and fresh water and a growing mash for food.
