Baby Hiccuping!? What's happening!?

My cousin recently had a baby and I was wondering if it was normal for them to hiccup and if so why do they?I'm babysitting and I don't want anything to be wrong.

  2. it is normal for babies to hiccup all the time...my daughter hiccups all the time the doctor warned me about it... its normal

  3. Perfectly normal. I think the valve muscle between the stomach and esophagus is just immature.

  4. Completely normal. I was worried that my son hiccuped several times a day so I asked the Dr. She says that the throat is so small when they are infants, that a nerve gets rubbed when they eat and that causes hiccups. Once the baby and the throat grows this will stop.

  5. Yep, normal.  My little guy hiccupped a lot the first month or so, like 4 or 5 times a day.  Now he's 9 weeks and I can't even remember the last time he did.  Maybe once a week now.  No big deal.  Just let them pass or try to give them a little something to drink to help them along.

    Hiccups are normal and good for you for asking when you didn't know. It's the best way to learn anything.

    give the girl a break!! shes worried about the baby and very loving came on here to make sure that all is well , i think thats great that a young person cares enough to do that!!! its what yahoo answers is here for , but yes it is normal for babies to do that my son does all the time, dont listen to people giving you abuse on here ignore them hun and good for you babysitting for youre cousin to give her a break you sound like you really care
