Baby Name Nevaeh? Meaning?

I like the name Nevaeh I think its very pretty. One thing that I don't understand is when people says it means h**l cuz its heaven spelled backwards How are they getting h**l out of that?

I think it's just people making up a meaning for the name, because  there is NO meaning for Neveah except "heaven spelled backwards".

Heaven backwards would be the opposite of heaven, which is h**l. Since Nevaeh is a made up name, h**l is not it's actual "meaning"; the name technically has no meaning. Heaven backwards = h**l is just a logical conclusion that people come to.

Nevaeh is a pretty name, but I would opt for naming your daughter something less trendy, and with less negative associations. What about Linnea, a Swedish name meaning "twinflower"? It's much less trendy, doesn't have any negative associations, and has a similar flavor to Nevaeh.

I'm not sure exactly what it means but I can tell what it means to me! This name is quite blessed from God on high, for all to see that a child who wears this name has found grace in the sight of the Lord, so I myself can not figure out where they get the idea of it meaning h**l, when it stands for the place I'm going when I die, and I pray everyone else does too! This name would then mean to me blessings, glory, a 100% winner! So, let them think what they want but I know what it means to me!Love,Grace, Mercy,Eternal life! All good things!

I have a 40 year old cousin with this name.  She is mentally retarded, thought that isn't related to her name...just a fact that came to mind.  She's a nice cheerful person.

The truth of the matter is, this name has no meaning, as it has just been pulled out of the air.  Because it is heaven spelled backwards, it's reversed, therefore, people might come to their own conclusion that because it's the 'opposite' of heaven, it means h**l.

Personally, I don't mind the name, but would only like to see it used as a middle name.

They figure that the opposite of Heaven is Heck..., so Heaven backwards must really be Heck (and when the child reaches about 3, you will probably be agreeing!)

However, please reconsider the name - I don't know why you want it, but I know a number of reasons not to use it

#1 - It is NOT unique (#31 in USA in 2007, with more people using it all the time)

#2 - It has a very negative cognation - many people think of teenage moms, welfare moms, or other classes that are generally considered poor and uneducated...

If you do decide to use it - Have fun, and enjoy your baby girl :-)

If you change your mind, maybe you could use a different name also meaning "heaven" - or use Neveah as a middle name...

They are just being dumb.  The name became popular after the lead singer of POD (a Christian rock band) named his daughter Nevaeh.  It is heaven spelled backwards, nothing more, nothing less.
