Question:

Baby Name Poll (we're running out of time!)

We're having a baby girl in about 10 weeks, and my husband and I CANNOT agree on a name. I love unusual names, but he tends to favor the more traditional. We actually have both agreed on the name "Fox", but I like Foxen or Foxyn as a full name. If you had to choose (I realize a lot of people won't like any of these, but if you HAD to choose)...

Fox Elizabeth

Foxen (Foxyn) Elizabeth

Mirabelle Jane

Mirabelle Elizabeth

Poppy Jane

Jane Elizabeth

Scout Elizabeth

I'm leaning toward Elizabeth as a middle name because it's a family name, and also my very best friend's middle name. Obviously if we end up going with a more unusual first name it will be better to have a "normal" middle name. Last name is Bruhn (rhymes with spoon)

Thanks!

  1. i like Scout Elizabeth.

  2. Jane Elizabeth.

If the choice was between Fox and Foxen, I would have to go with Fox

  3. scout is demi moore's daughters name and i'm not liking it at all! i'm really sorry..poppy is also some celebrities name and it's way out of date.

mirabelle is cute and foxen is cute but i do not like elizabeth it is too common and not unique at all

    hope it helps!

  4. Mirabelle Elizabeth Bruhn is really cute!*

  5. i like the name fox or foxyn but yh think about the future you don't want her to get teased by people calling her foxy o something lolz but all the names are nice

  6. My favorite is Mirabelle Elizabeth.

  7. i acutally really like fox elizabeth but if you dont want the first name to be spelled like the animal spell it faux.

  8. I love the unusual names... Foxyn is is cute! My last name is fox. Good Luck

  9. I've actually met a few people named 'Fox' - 2 to be precise.  But both were male - I always though it sounded more masculine than feminine anyway.  I'd maybe save it for a boy.

I like Mirabelle and Jane better than Fox for a girl.

If you're into nature-y names I'd suggest Willow, Iris, Wren or Briar.

  10. Jane Elizabeth

  11. Mirabelle Jane, by far is the most elegant and the sweetest name out of all of them. I really love that name.

  12. Fox would be alright but I really respect your for realizing Foxen would be a terrible girl's name. My favorite name on your list is Jane Elizabeth, I think it's gorgeous and really really really elegant and classy.

Jane Elizabeth Bruhn :) Congrast and good luck!

  13. have either of you thought about your child becoming president of a fortune 500 hundred company, or being a national diplomat??

The names you should choose should reflect a sense of respect and decency.  She may need to be well respected one day and very few people with names like "Poppy" or "Fox" are respected.  You don't want her to become an adult an start using initials because she hates her name: ie- F. Elizabeth Bruhn or P. J. Bruhn

To the person who suggested FAUX-  That is a word pronounced FOE and it means fake.  Don't do that to the child, please!!!

  14. Mirabelle Jane

  15. No, my husband and I hate all of the names.

We think Naomi, Hannah (Hilary as nickname), Yasmeen, Jasmine, and Brenda are way more cute.

P.S.: My husband changed his mind. He thinks Poppy Elizabeth is kind of cute. Ya know, Poppy, Poppie.

  16. i hate all of them except jane elizabeth

  17. How about Elizabeth Fox Bruhn. You could call her Liz, Lizzy, Liza, Liza-Fox.... I think that would be the best choice!

  18. Foxyn is horrible and so are the rest.

  19. mirabelle elizabeth

  20. I like the name of Mirabelle Elizabeth.  It sort of has a ring to it with your last name.

Have you thought about maybe using your mom's name and the father's mom's name <it sort of honors and tributizes the both of them in a special way>?  I can't ever have kids of my own because of medical issues, but when I could have, I often thought about naming my kids after each of the parents using their first names.

As was mentioned in one of the responses you got, you need to look at names in the long-term in the sense that, when the child is school-aged, is the name you choose going to cause problems with teasing or with other kids making up the little awful rhyming names like 'Nick the ***k'?  What sort of context will a name like 'Foxy' have (A stripper?  A real animal?).

Good luck to you, your family and your new bundle of joy!

  21. A name like Fox (or any variation) will sound totally stripper or hooker by the time she's a teen. Plan ahead, she won't always be an infant, and kids in school can be cruel.

  22. Mirabelle Elizabeth

Good for you for thinking of odd names! As a "Mariel", im sick of seeing so many people with the same name :l

  23. Foxen is horrible, I'm sorry.  It sounds like Oxen, it makes me think of cows.

I don't think Fox is too awful and it is good that you've got it paired with Elizabeth which is a nice, feminine name.

HOWEVER the only one I really like out of all of these is Jane.  I think Jane is really lovely and sweet and will suit your little girl throughout her whole life.

  24. scout elizabeth

  25. oh my--those names are pretty bad--poor girl, atleast she will have a good middle name if you go with elizabeth--why not pick that as a first name, but anyways if i HAD to chose a name from this list i would pick Jane Elizabeth or Mirabelle Elizabeth....good luck
