  1. what i did was looked up cartoon animals and copied them onto canvases and painted them with bright colours of acrylic paint, find nice simple ones though! i found mine on the internet.

my little girl has loved them from the minute she could see. still to this day, in the mornings she just lies in her cot for hours talking away to the pictures.

my friends little girl has little fairies in it. looks great as she has decorated her room in stunning old french style furniture too, not necessarily to my taste but is equally stunning

  2. I've been working with infants for almost 10 years and it never fails... hand and footprints as well as pictures of the babies. Parents love to see their own children on the wall.

  3. put up some photos of the babies and their families in a part of the room that the babies can see, also put up photos of them engaged in messsy play, treasure baskets, heuristic play etc. make use of mirrors and textures at babies eye level and use the ceilings to hang things.

  4. in my room at summer time we put a sun on the wall for a activity we put paper in the garden and let the crawlers step in orange paint and walk across it we then cut it in to circles and hang them near the sun and we also took photos which we placed around the sun that way they were part of it

Also because it autumn we did an autumn theme so we painted a tree on to the display and put a squirrel with a multi coloured tail using different coloured fake fur and material and an owl in the hole in the tree a hedgehog etc we made the children a part by cutting a acorn shape and letting them paint it and then hanging it up

Also by the sleep area we have a mocking bird song display with a mockingbird consisting of feathers etc with the words and a pram

Have you got a birthday board? they always good for a display

  5. Well, babies learn through all their senses, so how about something that they can see, touch, listen to and even smell. If you look into Heuristic play you could get some ideas, but I would maybe make some arrangements of things that make different types of noises, such as keys, jingle bells and pieces of chain. You could make collages using lots of different textures.

I know large pictures look better, but who is the display for? If it's for parents, yes, a big Disney picture or something which has very little benefit to the children. But if it's for the children - an interactive display which they can explore with the help of an adult, is much more interesting for them and will support their learning. Ofsted would love it!

    Good luck :-)

  6. i have been watching 60 minute makeover and a couple of times they have put a picture of baby on a big canvas and hung it on the wall-it looked stunning

  7. You could cut out lots of little sun shapes and put a photo of each of the babies in your nursery in the centre of each sun.  (A bit like the teletubbies but more of a simple sun shape)

  8. I would have displays aimed at the babies quite low down-things like mirrors, different colour materials, fabrics etc. Things that will stiulate them visually and sensory.

For higher up ones that adults would look at more things like any art work they have made, photos of the nursery and what the children get up to!

Maybe some murals on the wall-like nursery rhyme creatures, an under the sea theme or woodland theme etc so that the room is bright and cheeful!
