I am throwing a baby shower with a mexican theme....no real reason except the mom to-be craving during pregnancy was mexican food. So we are celebrating the arrival of thier little seniorita with a couples shower with margaritas etc. I am in charge of favors...I was thinking of making some sombrero cookies but want something else....any thoughts on how to package it or something to add to it? Keeping in mind I dont want it cheese and it is a couples shower

  1. You could also make cookies in the shape of a chili pepper if you can find a cookie cutter with that shape.  Or you could make pinata cookies in whatever animal shape you want and then decorate them with all kinds of bright colors like a pinata.  You could also make churros (the Mexican donuts coated with cinnamon-sugar) and place them in small, clear cellophane bags and write the couple's names on the bag in fun colors.  Put the cookies in the bag with the churros.

  2. Definitely pick up some Mexican crepe paper flowers for decorations. They're inexpensive and really beautifully color up a party to make it more festive:

Try searching for Fiesta in the Wedding & Party supplies category on eBay. Even though you might not want to buy any of the items, it might give you ideas for your party:

Here are some sombrero cookie cutters:

  3. There are really cute margarita favors here:

    They would be great!

  4. I would get red yellow and green m & M's with parents name on them or if you know the baby is a boy or a girl "Its a ...".  You can get those at m&m.com  And put them in huge margarita glasses.  I would make mini baby bottle shaped pinatas. Out of paper mache to give to the guests to take home. Also, go to www.orientaltrading.com for party favors as well.

Food wise, I would make mini enchiladas and mini taco's (the groceries sell mini taco shells El Paso, I believe), I have a recipe for an awesome cheese dip.  Take cream cheese spread it around the bottom of the baker, get taco seasoning sprinkle it on top of the cream cheese, spread salsa on top of the cream cheese, and then top with fiesta cheese you buy at the grocery.  Bake until bubbly serve immediately.  You could also do stuffed peppers with mexican taco meat or chicken, cheese, and jalapeno peppers.

    Hope this helps have fun!
