Question:

Baby Showers for Men?

Me and the girls are organising a baby shower (the traditional male free type) which will be at my mums with games etc. But i would still like my partner to do something with the boys. He is organising having the boys at our place and probably just drinking... does anyone have any other suggestions for activities for men to celebrate this event?

  1. My hubbie actually got to have a shower, but then again he's a nurse and surrounded by women who all got work showers, so he did too.  That being the exception, I'd suggest a diaper party.  All the guests bring a large package of diapers and they get a raffle ticket.  At the end of their party, your partner draws a ticket and that person wins a prize (for women, we usually do a nordstrom/macy's gift card, but with guys you could do a "beer of the month club" or bass pro shops gift certificate or tickets to a sporting event depending on their interests).  That way the party is baby themed but the guys don't have to play any cheesy games or think about what to buy and you end up with lots of diapers in a variety of sizes (and a chance to try out different brands to see which one fits your baby best) which you'll really need.

  2. Why not include men at the shower? I wanted my husband to be there when I opened all the gifts. So I had a shower where men and women could come, and believe me there were a lot of men there. Besides, they come in handy when you gotta lift all the heavy gifts (stroller, crib, etc.) into the car. :)

  3. Either they all get together and have a men's night and talk a lil bout the baby or have them join in on the babyshower because i doubt the men care and they are not going to want a woman to control it.

  4. I don't think it's a "men's thing."

  5. Why not have the normal baby shower with the girls. Then get the girls to invite their partners after the baby shower to a mixed bbq? And your partner can invite people along as well.

Otherwise I dont think you should organise activites for the men - drinking is usually enough to keep them occupied ;)

    Good luck with the pregnancy!

  6. just adore the fact that he' a guy and let him drink himself silly, after all, your most likely gonna be nagging him to death after the baby is born to "be involved" cut the guy a break, let him skip the sissy frilly stuff for a day
