Question:

Baby Travel??????????

In a couple of weeks i am planning on flying down with my 4.5 month baby girl to spend a week with my Dad (we live in Australia).

Apparently the luggage weight cannot exceed 4kg carry on and 17kg other. I always put my baby girl in cloth nappies but i am thinking just for the holiday i will use disposables (which i will buy there)... anyway my question is: What should i pack to last my baby and I a week? and what are some ways to reduce luggage weight?

Thanks xoxox

  1. Are you purchasing a ticket for your child?  Or will you be carrying her in your lap?

If you purchase her own ticket that will allow her her own luggage...but that can get expensive.

The first think you need to do is go online and research with your airline.  For example American Airlines allows a Car Seat, A stroller and a Diaper bag for a NON TICKETED child...if she had a ticket, she could have all that as well as a carry on and a suitcase of her own.

Find out what your airline allows for the child first and then decide what to take.

Also, if you have laundry facilities at your dads, it shouldn't be too big a deal, you can take a few outfits, and wash and rewear them.

You'll probably have to do that with babies things anyway since kids go through so many changes of clothes per day.

My son is 22 months old and we're taking our first trip next month, also to visit my father.  I'll be taking only a few outfits each since we'll be able to wash clothing there.

What I'm struggling with, is a travel crib, toys, baby proofing items, sippy cups...that kind of thing.

    Good Luck!
