My Zebra Finches have become first-time parents to a single hatched chick from a clutch of 7 eggs. The chick is now 10 days old, quite active, and recently opened it's eyes. The parents share sitting and feeding duties. When I look at the chick in the evening I see what appears to be it's cheeks packed with millet through was seems to be a very thin skin. None of my books have an answer about this. Is this normal? Possibly just a full crop? The fullness doesn't seem noticeable in the morning so I am thinking the chick consumes the stored seeds at night.
