Question:

Baby announcement before the baby is born?

I want to inform all of my far away friends and family that I am pregnant. I've heard of sending birth announcements but I never heard of pregnancy announcements (in fact the name sounds terrible). Does anyone know how I can go about announcing my baby-to-be using a more elegant title for my invites? Is this something that is typically done? By the way, I probably will not end up having a baby shower. I'm too far away from friends and family at this point.

  1. How about 'your name is expecting!' or I'm expectig a new arrival!

  2. This is your third question about showers and announcements that i've seen.....I think you're worrying too much. ;]

If I were you, I would go ahead and send "pregnancy annoucnments" to whoever you want to. Who cares if it's something that's typically done? I think it's a cute idea and I think your virtual baby shower idea is cute too.

I don't think it's tacky like some people think. I don't think it's like you're FORCING anybody to buy you anything. As long as you keep it like "You're invitied to my virtual shower!"... whether they want to send you a card or a gift, that's their option.

I completely understand your reasoning of doing it yourself. You're so far from everyone yet you still want the same experiences most pregnant girls want... the shower, the excited family members, etc.

Maybe send out your pregnancy annoucements and just include a link to your registry on there for anybody interested in sending gifts. You don't have to put a focus on it, just have it in there and make the announ. cards really cute.

Do you know if you're having a girl or a boy? Do you have a name yet? For example, on mine I would put "Introducing Mia Jonilynn" on the top of the card or something to that effect.

  3. Hallmark.com and some of the other sites that offer free ecards that are specifically for that purpose.  I've used them with all 3 of my pregnancies rather than just sending out a generic email or something.  If you're talking snail mail - then you might just make some cute little cards that say "I'm/We're expecting" and give due date, etc. and if you already know what you're having or not.
