I just got him a few days ago and he's only been eating about 4-5 crickets a day. Today he ate 12 along some of his salad. How many crickets should he be eating and what size should they be? He's about 5" long.

  1. I would take your pet to a vet for an exam- you wnat to make sure he is doing well- make sure his housing, heating, etc. are what they need to be.

  2. You should allow your baby dragon to eat as much as it can within 15 minutes. 4 to 5 crickets a day?! Is VERY little and I'd sudjest considering if your dragon is healthy. If he's a newly bought dragon, this might just be because he's getting used to his environement.

And the size of the cricket should be no bigger than the space between the dragon's eyes. Have fun with your new buddy! :)

  3. 10 crickets a day minimum

  4. It varies from bearded dragon to bearded dragon, I've heard of people's who eat 15 crickets a day, I've heard of people's who eat 50 a day.

As for crickets, as many as your bearded dragon can eat in a 15 minute period and leave a bowel of vegetables and replace it every so hours with fresh ones. He'll pick at the vegetables when he's hungry.

My two and a half month old bearded dragon eats about 15-20 small ones a day, along with 1 and a half dishes of sliced mustard greens a day. I feed her usually 8+ crickets at a time, feed her crickets twice a day, and replace vegetables after four hours so they don't dry up.

12 is a decent number though, and it's great to hear he's actually eating his vegetables.
