I have 2 cats and a dog (who go outside all the time) and a fenced in yard, my dog chased it and it was trying so hard to fly but it can't. It is now hiding close by my fence and behind some grass and our playhouse.

  1. if it has feathers, it is a fledgling and the parents take care of the babies on the ground.  please keep your pets indoors.

  2. If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly.   You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it. Keep your animals out of this area until they leave it, or check your yard before letting your dog out.   If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest.  Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched.  If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival.  Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.  Look for a rehab here:

  3. take it in and care for it there were two baby pidgeons at my cousins work place and he gave them to my mum because he didnt have the time because he works alot and my mum cared for them and she just put them on the floor because they coulnt fly ether and they started to jump about after a while and eventually they started to fly if it doesnt start to fly contact a vet or a pet specialist and also block of the place that your keeping the bird by shutting the door or getting a pet gate they cost like £10-£30 depending on the size and brand

  4. I would advise letting your pets out elsewhere, for now. It seems that it has fallen out of the nest. It is extremely unlikely that it would be able to fly or its mother would accept it back. If you really want to help it, take it inside and give it a warm, comfortable place to sleep that's high enough for your pets not to get at it. many people take in baby animals that have lost their parents, and this seems like an opportunity to do just that.

Try the link below. If there is a wildlife rehab in your area, take it there. If not, it would be best to follow the first answerer's response. I would suggest crushing some bird seed and putting it near it if it is too small to eat the full seeds.

Good luck! I hope it all works out.
