Baby bonus?

There is so much going on with the baby bonus and i just cant keep up.

Can anyone tell me what is happening and what the change is and how it will affect us women?

I'm married and my husband gets good pay but the baby bonus will be a big help as I have 2 girls already and will need to buy bunk beds for them so they can share there room and the new baby will already have a cot and change table but if I have a boy I will need to get things for him...

Will they be taking it away?

Will they be giving it to us in monthly payments?

Just need a little info to understand better...Thanks everyone.

  1. Hi, I assume you are talking about the australian one right? I was following it too as my husband is in the high income bracket but we could sure use the $5000 too!! Apparently the baby bonus will be means tested for household incomes over $150,000 per annum. If Im wrong and its means tested earlier than that I will be totally pissed off lol  It will still be a lump sum payment except for teenage mums

  2. have not heard of such baby bonus

  3. The Australian baby bonus is for every woman who has a baby with an income less than $150,000 per year at the moment it is $4,258 per baby so twins would be $8516 etc...

As of 1st of july it goes up to just over $5000 per baby.

You get it in a lump sum paid direct to your bank account unless you are under 17 then you get it as 13 equal fortnightly instalments

Did you also know that when you have done your tax return or advised centerlink you dont need to do one that you will also get a $600 per child bonus so you will get $1200 for your 2 girls and next year you will get $1800 for the 3 kids...

    Hope this helped!

  4. Sorry, I've never heard of this but I found a website that may be helpful to you.
