Question:

Baby characteristics?

My fiance and I were talking about having children and we were curious what they would look like. Both our familys have distinctive characteristics. All my siblings and I have my father's blue eyes even though our mother has brown. We even look like my father with our noses, the shape of our faces, ears, etc. My fiance looks exactly like his father and his family all have distinct features. I have blue eyes (obviously) and light brown hair. My father has blue eyes and brown hair and my mother has brown eyes and brown hair. My fiance has brown eyes and reddish-brown hair. His mother has brown eyes and dark brown hair. I know this is a lot to take into consideration, but how likely is it that one (or however many) of our children will have my blue eyes and my fiance's reddish hair?

  1. well i have 3 boys all with blue eyes and no one in my family or my husbands had blue eyes until we traced it back to his grandmother ...

in any case what does it matter surley a healthy child what ever colour eyes and hair is the important thing ..

  2. I don't know what the odds are, but the brown eye gene is more dominant than the blue one, so chances are on the brown eye side.  Not sure about hair colour, but my guess is that brown hair is dominant...

  3. Both my husband and I have dark hair and eyes, yet our daughter is blonde with green eyes! Apparently you can inherit genes from as far back as 7 generations. There are also dominant genes, such as those that determine brown eye colour eg. if your child inherits the blue gene from your family and the brown gene from your husband then she will have brown eyes as it is a more dominant gene.
