  1. You cant tell what its gender is until it is about 4 months...well, thats how it works with most chickens lol. The chick with the bigger comb/crest is probably a male, but I had a huge batch of chicks and a few of them had a larger crest/comb than the others so I thought they were all males...but one of them was actually a female...her crest/comb is still as big as the roosters, but it flops over instead of standing up strait because it got so big! lol Hope this helps!

Email me if you need more help. :)

  2. You don't exactly know for sure until one starts crowing. You can't really find out if it's a male or female yet... I had the same problem once, One might be maturing faster. But when they are fully mature a male always has more elegant feathers and bigger combs, when females are more of one color and smaller combs and no crowing in the morning.

  3. It depend on the breeds, but when they grow up a bit more you will definatly tell the difference, cockrels will have bigger combs compared to the hens.

    Hope it helps.

  4. slap me ten and well talk..........................ok? i know the answer.............but its on you to trust me...............the choice is yours...and yours alone...........

  5. It is too difficult t tell now. If they were babies you cold of by looking under the wind at the feathers. if you saw a shourt and long row its a hen is all long its a roo.

The only way for sure is to wait until they are full grown. DO they fight? if they do or if one does its a roo. also when older the roos run funny and completly different than hens.

Hane you listened to there calls. When they are away from mom, if they have different mom calls then you hay have a roo and hen. Its difficult to do for sure so you should wait until they are 4-6 months old.

The combs arnt the best thing, some hens have big combs it all depends on the breed. It seens you have eather mixed breeds or 2 different breeds so its hard to say just wait a while an you will know

  6. Not for a long time will you tell.  Go to   www.backyardchickens.com and it can tell you lots.  We have 14 and I have gone to this site many times to find out info on them.
