  1. You should probably just let him/her to keep trying. He will eventually get out, or even if he stays in for a really long time, he'll get to big, and get out.

  2. hello

unfortunately this is quite a common problem,

and although your are tempted to help the chick out do no ,

this will almost certainly cause the chick to die.

how long exactly has it been trying to get out indeed since yesterday.... I'm afraid it is unlikely he will be able to get out of the shell

you see chicks that cannot get out of their shell alone

    (without human assistance),

is basically mother nature showing that the particular chick is a weakling and will not likely survive . .

but sometimes ...miracles happen and the chick will survive and live a healthy normal chicken life ..,

others that needed help sadly don't and normally don't survive long....

unless all the chicks were like this and it is most likely a problem with the humidity in the incubator.

but while the chick is still alive and in the egg there IS HOPE, ....  the best thing at this point is

*to either leave the chick and hope it will manage to get out (but sadly after this long time it is unlikely :()

*OR help this little chick out, you never help a chick or any other baby for that matter out of the egg unless it can't get out by itself (like this time). . . .

to help the chick out what you need to do is CAREFULLY pull the hard shell away, bit, by bit and slowly. (with a tweezers is best)

... and then the same with the membrane..

.BUT if you see BLOOD leave well  be and try later ... blood should never be present during the time of hatching , blood is a sign that the chick cam out far too early .... and is still developing ....

but if no blood keep GENTLY taking the bits of shell and membrane away

anyway if the chick gets out either by himself or by you keep it warm and hope for the best.

  3. leave the chicken alone, they do not need your help and if you do insist on *helping* you will probably cause its death.  If the chick is meant to get out of that shell...it will get out on its own, in its own time.  If there is some reason that it cannot get out, then it will not make it...that is natures way of culling out the sick and weak...sorry nature seems cruel but that is the way it is.

  4. I saw that situation once, the baby was able to crack the shell but not the membrane under it, unfortunately it was dead when people tried to open the shell for it:(

  5. Can you see the chick?

I'm normally against helping and allow the chick to pace its self over three days because 9/10 times the chick dies if it is added in any way.

Its natures way of sorting the weak from the strong.

This web site says the the Hen will cluck to stimulate the Chick when hatching.  Try making chicken noises.
