my son eats table food now. he's been eating table foods for about 3 months. sometimes he only takes a few bites and doesn't seem interested in it at all. he'll just play with it. but he'll eat about 2 jars of baby food, no problem. i feed him baby food when this happens because i want to make sure he gets nutrients. is feeding a 1 year old baby food really that bad? what age were your kids COMPLETELY off baby food?

  1. yeah, that fine.they have baby foods 6months-3yrs now.

my son ate baby food till he was nearly two but i always added extra little things like peas, corn and sometimes finely chop sauges anything really to give it more texture. but i also had carrot sticks and cheese slices for hand held food.

my daughter didn't like it that much so i had to make my own.

  2. I would bet your son just likes the baby food because its more familiar.  Just keep introducing new foods and he'll begin to eat more and more table food.

My son ate baby food until he was 16 months and my daughter never ate it, she went straight to table foods at 10 months and never looked back.

  3. nothing wrong with occasional baby foods.  my neighbor is 2 and i still give her the vanilla custard desserts sometimes.

and just think about it, we eat yogurt, and thats the texture of baby food (sort of .)  when she is almost 3 i would totally stop all Gerber baby products.

why don't u try Gerber graduates food?  they make a bunch of great foods and meals for kids 1 and up.

stop giving him the gerber baby jars dinners and veggies and just offer regular food.  make sure he sees u eat, because monkey see is usually monkey do, and then he can hopefully pick up some good eating habits!

oatmeal is good for breakfast, macaroni and cheese for dinner. applesauce, yogurt, sliced deli meat, pasta, meatballs are all soft too.

also for fruits, try the diced apples, peaches, and pears that dole makes in the little plastic cups are great for toddlers!

  4. My children ate much more healthy when they ate baby foods.

Feeding a 1 y/o babyfood is fine ... they make baby food that goes into the toddler years. Just be sure & add things to his diet with different textures. (not only thin baby food)

Let him still get his nutrients from the baby food & add in more table food items, bits of cheese, vegetables etc...

My children(twins) at 7 still eat yogurt & applesaue & technically thats "baby food"

He'll tell you when he's done with it .... when he likes Mommas good cooking over the blandness of the baby foods.

  5. my son stopped eating baby food at 9mths. you just switch them over, and find more variety in foods that he would want to eat, he may just not like what you're giving him. take the jarred stuff away completely, don't worry about his nutrition, just don't give him any junk food and encourage the very good ones, like fruit and veggies..and it'll take care of itself. my son always wanted to scoop the baby food out of the jar himself or take the spoon, so thats how I knew that it was time for big boy food.

also, at 12mths they should be eating everything we eat, and are able to drink whole milk and eat eggs. so there's no reason not to find something he will love to eat. Try getting him whole foods of whatever jarred foods were his favourite.

  6. Baby food is definitely good for your child, for as long as he will eat it! It has a lot of the nutrients that they need. I stopped using it because it was a little more costly and seemed to need more to fill them up.

A big difference between baby food and table food is that baby food is not seasoned at all. It is very bland and that is what kids are used to. If you prefer him to eat table food, try making his without any seasoning and blending it up in a food processor. They also make "toddler" baby food that is made for them in bigger pieces to help them transition. If you still have concerns just ask or call your pediatrician they've been asked that question a million times I'm sure.

  7. I can't remember i just remember putting her on toddler foods like spg bol etc she hated them so slowley we introduced normal foods which she really liked. i think she was around 1 and a half and had all her teeth when we did away with jarred foods altogether.

Let him play with it that's how they learn about textures and taste my child loved spaghetti ( and still does) toast is always a good one with different toppings like , Jam, Marmalade, Peanut Butter, Marmite and toast topppers. Yogurts, mousse's, jellys (jello) and ice-cream are good deaserts and chopped carrot, cucumber, apple, banana, pears and peaches make good nibbles ( even more so if dipped in chocolate mousse) but not all the time for obvious reasons. Good luck and enjoy the mess it's all a part of him learning and growing up and it keeps them quiet while you eat your lunch ( even though he'll want yours as it will look better than his) xx

  8. My son was about 9 months, maybe 10 months when he was completely off baby food. He did really well with table food though. I say to keep giving him the table food and when he takes to it more, cut out the baby food. All babies are different.
