  1. Yes seperate the male ASAP and give the female a dark spot so she can nurse

    Here is a site:

  2. the father should have been seperated a day before the birth unless you wanted another litter. he most likely wont kill them he will help raise them.  she is probably already pregnant.  they mate the night after the litter is born. once the babies are old enough i would put the males with day and keep the females with mom.

    hope this helps

  3. yes ovawise the male will mate wiv the female agen

and he will eat the babies

so its best to seperate the father frm the babies and mother

  4. The answer is, yes.

But please, for your own sake, sort out your grammar and punctuation! It's a never ending sentence of words that aren't even spelled correctly!

    It's gerbil, not gerbal.

  5. gerbil males should be kept withthe female to help her look afterthe young as males do make very good fathers. trouble is that the male will soon get the female pregnant again and the process begins again! best to take to male out as the mum will cope on her own just fine without any problems raising her babies. Its not fair to breed and breed her over and over again!

P.S How do you know you have one male and one female? It may be you have two females and the breeder totally got it wrong and one of the females was already pregnant when you got her. Have a look at the underneath of the other gerbil and where his testicles should be, the fur is usually thinner and has a line dentation in the skin indication two single testicles.

    Hope this helps!

  6. The male DOES need to be separated as you probably do not want more baby gerbils. But as many people have WRONGLY answered, male gerbils do NOT eat their babies. It is perfectly safe to leave the father with them, but in your case, i would advise you to remove the father as gerbils mate quickly and you will soon get more babies.

They MAY have already mated again, but there's nothing to be done about that now.

  7. Yes otherwise the father will either eat the babies or try and mate with them x
