Baby hamster question!! URGENT!

Okay, well my hamster had babies. they're 10 days old, and finding the hamster mix thats in the cage. they've been eating it and i didnt think nothing of it, that is until last night they were putting whole peices in their mouth. some seemed not to care and some seemed to try and get it out but couldnt. can baby hammies choke on the mix?

  1. No, I have never heard of baby hammers choking on the food so no i guss not


  2. No they are just getting used to it they will be fine.  You can provide soft food too like some fruit and vegetables and porridge but they need the hamster mix and too much other food can give them diarrhoea.  

  3. You can also try feeding them cabbage. It is very healthy. Try putting Bene Bac on it. About half the size of a pea.

  5. No, I have never heard of baby hammies choking on the solid food. They are naturally very fast learners and learn quickly to bite and store food in their cheek pouches. There might be some trial and error but I have never heard of them choking on food.

    If you are still concerned, I would suggest you remove big pellets from the food mix and break it down into smaller pieces before putting in the food dish so that you can be worry free about the babies.
