Baby hamster questions.?

Well I asopted a female dawrf hamster from the humaine society about two weeks ago.

I found out three days ago that I have 7-9 day old pups. I am pretty sure it's only 5, but they're might be six of them.

Anyone have information on when I can move them to clean the cage, what age I should seperate them, when I can give them away, and... anything else I need to know? xD

I know how to care for them, I just don't know exact ages of when to do certain things.

seperate them in 3-4 weeks i believe. When I was younger my female and male mated and the people at the pet store told us that we were lucky that the young females hadnt bred with their brothers. Dont move them until they have their eyes open. you can give them away a week or two after you have seperated them and just make sure that the female has close access to her food and water so that way she doesnt have to move that much.

You leave them in with the mom hamster without disturbing the cage and without touching the pups until they are 2 weeks old.

You can try to touch them when they are 2 weeks or older provided mamma hamster is unbothered by it. If she looks bothered, refrain from doing so until the pups are three weeks old.

When the pups are 2 weeks old, you can do one cage cleaning since until then you cannot touch the cage. Also observe the momma's temperament carefully before deciding to clean the cage. If she does not seem comfortable being removed from the cage, then defer the cleaning to 3rd week.

Between 3 weeks -  4 weeks, the pups can be weaned from the mother and can be caged separately. This time you can do another cage cleaning.

4th week - s*x the pups and separate the males and females into different cages since they are sexually mature from 5th week onwards.

You can give the pups away once they hit their 6th week of age.

Other than that, you just have to give lots of food and water to the mother. The key is to keep the mother healthy and stress free so that she can go about her chore of baby caring without any other disturbances as overdue stress and illhealth seems to make the mother kill the babies.
