My eight mo. old's eye is almost matted shut. My four year old had a fever virus last week with watery eyes. Is it possible that the baby caught it?

WHAT CAN I DO TO CLEAN IT OUT SO THAT SHE CAN OPEN HER EYE?

  1. Use warm water and soft cloth!

    Baby will hate it!

Wash your hands before and after to help prevent spreading.

just rub your baby's eye gently a few times a day and like a previous person answered, use a clean cloth each time!

Chances are it's just a blocked tear duct, and babies get those often!

    Nothing to worry about!

  2. Use a cotton swab, or a washcloth with warm water and gently wipe the baby's eye from the middle outward.  Do it several times, using a clean swab or clean area of wash-cloth each time.

If this continues tomorrow, take the baby to the doctor as she may have an eye infection.

  3. Sounds like pink eye.  You will need to go to the doc and get medicine.  I would just wash your hands thoroughly and not touch yours or your other sons eyes until you know for sure.  Until then, use a warm wash cloth to gently rub/wipe on her eye (closed of coarse) to get the gunk out.

I have three boys and many neices and nephews and the only thing that I have ever heard gunk up an eye like that is pink eye.

    I hope this helped!!!

  4. Yes.  The baby probably has conjunctivitis.  Bring the baby in to see the Doctor.  She probably needs antibiotic eye drops or ointment.  Use a clean, wet washcloth to moisten the eye and clean the crustiness, but be careful not to cross contaminate.  Wash all the bed linens immediately and practice good hand-washing when dealing with the effected eye, you don't want to infect the other eye or your own.

  5. Sounds like your baby has pink eye.  Talk to your pharmacist or pediatrician about products safe to use on baby to get rid of it.

  6. sounds like pink eye, be careful not to spread it to other eye or your eyes, wash hand after washing or touching eyes and wipe down baby's hands too. get a warm wash cloth and gently wipe eye from inside next to nose outward, will decrease risk or spread, use another part and wash cloth and continue gently until washed off. go to Dr tomorrow and get some abx eye drops  wash hands a lot or everybody will have pink eye tomorrow
