Baby health - Shakes?

MY 6 month old starting to do something very odd and we want to know if anyone here has experienced this. He has began to:

1) smack everything with his left hand, almost like a nervous uncontrolled action. He does not do it constantly but in the last 3 days, he has been doing it a bit much.

2) When he cries due to fatigue he cries and laughes in an almost hysterical way. You can see him trying to be his sweet self and smile but he seems to be almost hysterical at times in the last few days.

Anyone experience this with their babies??

  1. 1) i think i recognise this. sounds quite normal. it's kind of hard to tell though so if you think it isn't normal then bring it up with your doctor.

    2) my son would do that too when he was around that age and he'll still do it now at 14 months old sometimes. i just found it very funny and i'd start laughing too and then we'd both have a good laugh. i wouldn't worry about that.

  2. yes they all do funny little things like this at each stage in development

  3. None of my children did that (I have 3) but hey all babies are different, maybe its just him learning something new..I would run it past your pediatrician the next time you go to him/her..Just watch him, does he seem as though he is at the right level for his age? I wouldnt worry, Im sure its just him and his own little personality coming out.  Im sure he is perfect..

  4. It sounds to me like what my son was doing but he did it with his foot.the doctor told me it was just nerves, but u should ask your doctor in case it is something a lil more serious. Try first to wrap the arm in a warm wet cloth to stimulate the nerves. Remember he's learning his body so he could be just experimenting.
