On my babies leg where they gave her the shot it is still got a little knot underneath the skin. I have been working it down as much as possible everyday and she walks everyday but its been over a week. She is 12 months old and i asked a nurse about it and she said to just rub it everyday to let it go down. When should i call the pediatrician, or should i not be worried at all. ( no other symptoms besides the knot)

  1. IF its there by next week then I would call her doctor for a follow up and make sure its alright, but for the most part that is one of the side effects of shots...even tho it sucks for the baby it happens. My youngest daughter had a knot for 2 weeks after getting her shots but it did go down.Try not to mess with it much unless you are rubbing it to help it go down. Also if it seems to irritate her a lot I would give her some baby tylenol to make her a little more comfortable since she walks on it everyday. But yeah I would say its nothing to worry about if she has no other symptoms of other side effects.

  2. With my son who is 3 years now had a few times when he got his shots where the knots lasted forever seemingly.

It will go away, its just there because she tightened her muscles when they gave her the shot.  It will go away. I know its scary, but it will go away.

    Good luck.

If it starts to bruise, or darken take her back to the doc.

  3. Symptoms can stay around for up to 21 days after the shots.  If they persist longer then that then you call your doctor!

  4. The last time my son had a shot was three months ago. He still has a pea sized bump on his thigh. Each time he has gotten a shot said bump has gone away just in time for the next round of shots- quite convenient. It is not anything to be concerned about. Some kids just mark more easily than others.
