My doctor told me baby had dropped and was head down... I know this happened a couple of weeks ago. I could feel the pressure on my cervix. I still feel it from time to time and my belly appears to be lower ;)

Doctor said she was head down .. I feel the "lightening" described once baby is head down, etc...

The thing is I also feel the baby kicking pretty high. How can this be? Is it because she's tall enough to fill my whole belly? Is she switching around? Is this normal?

  1. she may be stretching a bit, my first pregnancy happened this way he was a big boy but it was nothing to worry about still talk with your dr about any concerns you may have.

  2. Perfectly normal. Stop worrying.

  3. Yes this is normal. I'm only 33 weeks and my baby has also dropped. I still feel constant movements and kicks from her though near the top of my stomach. They can still kick out their legs, stretch and even turn around. If you are worried ask midwife to check position again.

  4. It also depends on your size I think. I have dropped and you can def. tell but i still feel the baby everywhere!! same with my other 2 and they were tiny.

  5. you'd be surprised how big those small little things are! lol  i felt my babys kicking and moving all around my belly from top to bottom all the way through, even after they had dropped.  you'll wonder when he/she is born how they fitted into your tummy and how the h**l they came out! lol

  6. A baby is somewhere between 17 and up to over 21 inches long when they are born. Take a measuring tape and stretch it out over your belly and see if you think your child could stretch from head to toes that long, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how much baby you actually are carrying in there! Maybe you have a long legged supermodel hanging out in there! Congrats and best wishes!

  7. When I was 37 weeks along my son dropped, I felt all the pressure. Just because he is head down doesn't mean that he is bundled up  in the bottom of your cervix. Generally baby's are 19-21 in long, and in your belly that don't take much to consume. Just wait, he can turn into a magician and give you a couple of good foot prints. My son gave me a good one on the way to the doctor the day I got induced. It was high up there to.

  8. How far along are you?  I'm guessing fairly late- so, yes you can feel some kicks up pretty high still.  I never felt too many kicks after the baby was dropped.  It was more like movement and turning.
