  1. No, geckos are not particularly sensitive to light. Make sure to only use the lamp during the day so that your little baby leo can be awake at night. If you are concerned, maybe you can turn the lamp a bit so that the heat is still on the cage, but not so much glaring into it. But I don't think it will stress him/her out either way.

  2. He's nocturnal, and needs a day and night cycle.  So, use white light during the day 12 hr. or so, and in the evening/night, use a red basking bulb.  I turn off my red basking bulb at night (it's approx. 93 under the red bulb on the basking perch.  The UTH pad is around 90 F., so he doesn't need the lamp for heat.   This permits a cool down in the tank for night, when he's active.  The cool end should be around 80.

So, in summation... white light during the day, red light in the evening, and red light (if it's helping to maintain your heat) or no light at night.

    Enjoy your baby.

  3. It might not be stressing him out, but it might be disturbing his sleep cycle.  They are nocturnal reptiles, so there's no need to use a basking lamp.  All they need is an Undertank Heater and a red night bulb at night.

  4. No, I don't think something your supposed to use will stress out your gecko. Besides you can always get a red/blue basking light if you think the white light is too bright.
