Baby measuring big.?

At my 18 week appointment I was measuring 20+ weeks and they said they will check me again in 4 weeks to see if my my uterus has gotten any bigger also they said they will check at my 20 week ultrasound to for anything out of the ordinary.

I had my 20 week ultrasound and they said bubs looks good and his heartbeat was great, they checked the size of him and he was big so they put me forward nearly 2 week with my dates.

I could not see why cause at my 13 week ultrasound I was right on track with growth and dates. I have my appointment next week and they will check the growth of my uterus so I will know for sure if something is wrong.

I'm worried about gestational diabetes. Why would bubs be growing so big so quickly and has any other women had this happen to them and was all ok and no problems with gestational diabetes.

Is there any other factors that can cause bubs to be growing so quick...

  1. they too go through growth spurts. it is really nothing to worry about, i would not think. i can't really say much because i am pregnant with twins so last ultrasound i was 20 weeks but measuring right at 23 weeks. not big but cant fit any of my clothes lol. i mean the doctor doesn't always know the size (even if technology is so much better). when i had my son 3 years ago, they thought he was going to be around 6 lbs or so, he was 7 lbs 3.5 oz.

  2. 20 weeks is the best time to do an ultrasound, and dates are most accurate then.  At 20 weeks the ultrasound agreed with 20 weeks.  At 40 weeks the ultrasound said I was only 37.  So definitely go with the 2nd due date, its more accurate, especially with your uterus measuring the same.

  3. Well, with my first couple ultrasounds, they said my babe was about 1 or 2 days ahead of her age, but not enough to change my due date. When I went for my next ultrasound at 22 weeks, they said she was like a week bigger than her age. They never changed my due date, but I was wondering about this, too.

  4. no it's just bub. my baby's big too and everything is fine

  5. My baby is measuring 3 weeks bigger than it should.  Its just how it is. Pray for an early delivery.

  6. From an ultrasound my baby also measured big early on & my doctor formed a due date based on that ,,but I know exactly when I had my last period so I made her keep my due date based on my period not on an ultrasound. I have had two other babies & they were big. I am making her keep my due date instead of hers cause I really dont wanna be induced. I have never had gestational diabetes but they sure do check me a lot for it.

  7. with my last pregnany the baby measured between 3 and 4 weeks bigger than his actual due date. my due date was never changed and mainly because i had a planned c section.

needless to say, my son made it all the way to his schedules c section delivery date and since he was born he has been in the 95% as far as growth is concerned- he is just a big baby so your baby may just end up being a bogger baby :)

  8. Earlier ultrasounds can be wrong because babies do grow differently.  Diabetes could be a factor and I am sure if you continue to measure larger they will check you early for that.  I measured bigger with my first baby and didn't have diabetes (she weighed 8lb. 11ou) and with my pregnancy now I am measuring 2 weeks ahead.  Try not to let it worry you, seems to me they are monitoring you well.

  9. At my 10 week ultrasound my baby was so small I was put back a week, then by my 20 week ultrasound he was back on track. Then at my 35 week check-up my uterus was under again. In the end he came a week late and weighed 10"11!!!

I was worried about gestational diabetes, but its likely more of a paranoia then anything. You would likely notice your blood sugar being out of wack. But talk to your doctor still
