Baby monitor- very strange noises?

my baby is nearly one and i use the tomy walkabout classic monitor for when she is in bed at night , i plug it in as batteries seem to wear down too quick

just latley when i turn the parent unit on its been emitting a very strange high pitched alien like noise , it sounds like a fast tapping and a high pitched noise , can described it as an old radio noise when there was no station (like an old dial radio) i usually have to turn it off and on again a few times, it bugs me but theres more

at certain times throughout the night iv been awoken by strange sounds and voices coming from the monitor , the voices usually seem quite clear and usually male , its scared me so much sometimes that iv gone to my babys room to check her and even put her with me despite the fact she is still sound asleep

my baby has her own room , my son is 4 and is also asleep when i check , no one else in house , im not imagining nor making it up , it scared the h**l out of me

what could it be - help please!!

Baby monitors use unlicensed radio spectrum, which means there is no control over who is using it where.  That makes  it very easy to have interference from other units (like in a neighbor's house) or from other kinds of devices that use the same spectrum.  

The really nice thing is, someone could be listening to YOU and you wouldn't know it!  =:O

...nah only joking. Monitors can pick up things from other monitors, even police radios.

mabye ur baby is just taking the p**s!! or maybe the system is getting old... try a new one. I KNOW!... some times it picks up signals from walkie talkies, CBs and police radios! i heard one woman heard the police talking on hers. if u can then change the moniter channel
