how consistent were your baby's movements?

My baby has been active especially on monday and tueday, where I could see my belly moving also. Yesterday and today not so much, like the movements have lessened dramatically from monday and tuesday. I asked the nurse and she said it was ok. and that the baby wont have regular movements until about 32 weeks... But I'm getting kind of scared. would you be??

Also, if this information helps, my cervix is thinning. I have been exposed to ammonia from dogs p**s. That could be a reason, could it not?

  1. Well.. babies have lazy days.. sometimes weeks.. then active days.. nothing to worry about... if your doctor says everything is fine then kick back and relax

  2. I am 38wks and 4days. My baby doesn't always move regularly or at the same times every day. If you are concerned, drink something sugary and lie down for a while. Then do something called fetal kick counts. If you feel at least 8 in an hour you should be fine. But call your doc if you are still worried.

  3. I used to get nervous when my son got quiet in utero, too. And now that he's a toddler, I get nervous when I can't hear him in the next room! I rented a Doppler Fetal Monitor from Baby Beat so I could listen in on him. The bonus was that he could hear it, and he didn't like it, so he's always get very active when I'd turn it on.

I do not think that dog pee makes a cervix thinner, or else we'd find a way to market it as a cervical ripening agent for use in inducing labor.

  4. as long as you are doing fetal kick counts and they are fine i wouldn't worry. some days the baby will be more active and other days quieter...but with the kick count you will know for sure that it is moving enough in general.

by 26 weeks you shouldn't be going a day without fetal movement though...regular fetal movement usually occurs before 32 weeks, right around now in your case, actually. sometimes when women are bigger they can feel less movement or it can occur later, but in general fetal movement should be expect daily by around 26-28 weeks.

  5. You'll notice this when baby is on the outside too.  During growth spurts you will notice a pattern of sleeping more, and doing less.  This could be one of the reasons for it.

By dramatically lessened, I assume that you don't mean stopped completely, that would be a different story.

When I was asked with my second little blessing, to monitor her movements, they wanted me to log after dinner movements up to ten movements; log a start time and a stop time.  I thought ten was a rather small number, and only once a day, but that's all they wanted.

I didn't exactly know how to count it since a roll takes more movement than a kick, but I just counted any movement as a movement.

It may help your peace of mind to log for a week or so, after a meal pref., and you sit back and feel.

Often with me it is I get a bit busier and don't noticce as much.

    ;0)

    Hope that helps!

    Congratulations!!!

  6. Congrats!!! Did your sugar intake change?  Try drinking a glass of o.j and lay down for an hour baby should move if not then the baby is resting.  There rest times very from ours, and some babies just like to sleep.  My girl only lets me see her kick, she refuses to let daddy see (because he said it was weird).
