Baby name Lavinia?, others?

Question

What do you think of the name Lavinia? Is it a good name or not?

Also, how about Angeline Grace, Emmeline, Aurelia?

I like Emmeline the best. Lavinia is pretty, but seems a little old for a baby. We thought of the name George if we had a son, (to honor grandfather who passed away) but after thinking, George sounded a little old.

Lavinia reminds me of a bathroom - Lavatory, the british word for bathroom or whatever. sooo... yeah. ew.

Well, the name Lavinia seems to roll off of the tongue rather nicely. When I think of the name, though, I think of a young woman rather than a young girl. In Roman mythology, Lavinia was a beautiful girl that the Rutuli and the Romans fought over. Aeneas, Roman, ended up "winning" her over Turnus, king of the Rutuli. Lavinia had been promised to Turnus.  Aeneas and Lavinia's son, Ascanius/Iulus, started Alba Longa.

The name Lavinia has a great history and a beautiful sound. I'm not sure that your daughter would appreciate being named it because it is so uncommon. People may take it as a little "weird." But it is a gorgeous name.

Angeline Grace is a pretty name, but I don't really care for Emmeline and Aurelia.

Emmeline is my favorite of the names you've listed. With all due respects, I can't see the name "Lavinia" anymore without thinking of Lavinia, the mean, not-too-bright witch in James Stevenson's children's stories.

It is kind of nice only because it is so unique. But I always think of the mean girl off of the movie a Little Princess or an old woman. I love the names Emmeline and Aurelia. They're very unique and gorgeous. Angeline Grace is too simple for me.
