Baby naming question?

Would it be acceptable to name our baby boy the same name as my brother's middle name? For example, say my brother's name is "John William Smith"....would it be okay for me to name my son "William"?

  17. Yes - perfectly acceptable. It would be nice to ask his permission and see if he would mind first. He may be planning on using the name for one of his children in the future.

    I did name my son the same middle name as my cousin, but it was the only name that worked. My cousin was flattered we wanted to use it - so that was fine.

  20. Absolutely!  The only reason not to is if he has that name chosen for his own son.

    Our son is named after 2 great grandfather's: Taylor Emery.  Taylor after my grandfather and Emery after my husband's.  I think using family names is honoring.

  21. Of course you can, he would probably be honored.  I prefer the anme Liam.  It's the Irish version of William.  William is cute too though!  

    Oh wait....William was an example.  Yes, you can name him your brothers middle name for sure!

  22. its your baby which means you can name him or her what ever you want.. dont let other ppl tell you that you cant.. they just dont want you to.. but if you want to then go for it..  

  23. Of course it would! It's always nice to use family names. Although it gets a bit confusing if it's immediate family! :)

  26. Your brother should be honoured! If I were him, I would too. However, you can tell him beforehand or something to 'prepare' him.
