Question:

Baby parakeets...help!!!

my 2 parakeets just laid 3 baby eggs...but i wasn't expecting it so I'm still in shock and have no idea what to do...i need all the details please help...thank you so much!!!

The incubation time for parakeet eggs is 18 days.  Unless you have an egg incubator with detailed information on how to care for the eggs (temperature, rotations, humidity settings, etc.), I'd recommend that you simply let the parents take care of them.  Come to think of it, are you sure that your 2 adult parakeets are of the opposite gender?  You could have 2 males or 2 females.  If they didn't mate, then those eggs are not fertile (in which case, they won't hatch).

    If the eggs are viable (fertilized and still alive), then you'll need some baby parakeet food for when they hatch.  I'd recommend "Kaytee Exact Hand Feeding Formula", or something similar to that.  Your pet store should have some.
