  1. First of all, you really should have prevented them from hatching if you weren't prepared or have the know how, so now that you know for the future...

What type of parrot, this makes all the difference in th world...

usually 5 weeks is about average, some breeds are earlier and some are later. Do not remove them under any circumstances if they are not eating on their own. If you don't know how, do not attempt to feed them yourself. Their crop is very delicate you can scald them, puncture the crop or even suffocate them! Make sure they are pooping well, and keep the nesting area clean. The momma bird may be aggressive because the has the babies not necessarily towards the babies. Even the most well behaved, socialized sweet birds go nutty when they have babies. In the end though, as soon as they're independent enough, take them to a vet that specializes in avians/exotics and have them seen to just for a checkup.

  2. Hi,

Just relax, this kind of thing happens all the time.

Two to three weeks is fine to pull most babies, at two weeks they are just starting to open thier eyes. ...

Before you pull them from the nest you must make sure you know what you are doing.... Go to HTTP://BirdBreeders.com find a breeder close by you. Call them and tell them what you have and what you want to do. Most good breeders will be glad to give you advice.

After you pull the babies, you will have your hands full. So I say again make sure you know what you are doing. Some breeders will even buy the birds after you pull them and raise them as one of theirs.

There are a number of videos on Http://YouTube.com. You can check out some of these to see how others do it as well.

It is not hard to handfeed babies, you just realy need to know what you are doing first.

  3. Well, babies are very exciting! Most breeders agree that once the eyes are open is a good time to start handfeeding the babies. This is usually 2-4  weeks after hatching, depending on the species. Babies are successfully handfed all the time, but this is NOT something left to amateurs. Countless parrot babies die every year due to inexperienced handfeeding, which can result in such painful injuries as crop burn and aspiration of the food. These usually result in a slow death for the baby bird. So be careful! However, if you are comitted to handfeeding these babies (several times a day, mind you) you can learn how to do it correctly. There are some great parrot books out there, or you could consider talking to some local breeders or even going to a pet store where they sell parrots, because some employees learn how to feed babies till they are ready to sell. If you believe the mom is a danger to the babies, then remove them asap. They can recommend the right baby formula (Exact is popular) and help guide you in the right direction. I hope this helps, because having someone demonstrate it for you is much better.
