Baby penguin's dead parents?

If a baby penguin's parents both died,would another mother which had recently lost its own baby take the chick in?

  1. yes penguins are EXTREMELY maternal. they will steal chicks if they have lost theirs as well. if they see a chick alone and have no chick themselves they will attempt to raise it. mothers will get in to fights over this. however on the other hand a lost or orphaned chick looking for a mother will be ignored and shunned if it attempts to join a family that already has a chick. there is a strong one chick per family instinct in penguins.

  4. I'd hope so! But probably not. If it doesn't smell like its baby, they won't go near it.

  5. I cant tell for sure. Logic says that a foster parent will not like another baby sharing its food and may even kill it. But, you see, every other day we find in news that a dog has adopted a kitten or a cat has adopted a mouse. So go ahed, try it, but be around, just in case.
