  1. i will not use it on my child. I just let her air dry if needed when I take her diaper off. She loves it anyways. I don't use it because of studies showing it can harm the baby if she breathes it in while your putting it on. and there is simply no need in risking it true or not. Just like if I don't know FOR SURE if I should do something during a pregnancy I don't do it because I don't NEED to do it. My daughter has never had an issue with rashes, I let her keep her diaper off for at least 2 minutes almost every time I change her and she giggles and kicks and loves it. So I don't see a reason to risk my daughter's health for no reason.

  2. I never used baby powder on my daughtter and the only time she's ever had An issues down there It was when I picked her up from an overnight at grandmothers. All I've ever done is (this might sound weird) Is 'blowdry' after each change and athin layer of balmex at her last changing before bed. She even started to do the 'blowing' as I would blow air to her bottom at under a year of age.!! Never an all out diaper rash though!!

  3. Everything has side effects. Your putting it on your baby's bottom.  Now letting them inhale it. Just keep it where the baby can't get into it and harm them self.

  4. I have heard that you are not supposed to use baby powder for diapering, especially on girls (causes infections)

  5. I've read the same thing - I will just not use it.  I've heard that it's best to let your babies bottom air dry and get as much air if they are prone to rashes.

  6. I had 2 girls and you know I've never seen the point of baby powder anyway. Maybe that's a girl thing? I used to be shocked when we visited my MIL and she would have powder and go right behind me and put LOADS on my daughters toosh. I mean, really? Is it even needed? I think it just causes a mess.

I rubbed my kids down with baby lotion every morning and evening after baths and they were fine.

  7. I just finished reading a book from my hospital's public healthy unit and it said the same thing, to avoid using baby powder at all costs. It's really not good for them to inhale it..if you do need to use it on moist areas to help with moisture (like under the chin in the crack by their neck to prevent chaffing, or around where the diaper rubs between their legs and genitals), put some on your fingers (away from the baby's face) and THEN come back to the baby and rub it in where you need to..but just squirting the powder on the baby causes a lot of dust and it isn't good for anyone (even you) to breath it in!

  8. i agree with bryn...baby powder not only can be inhaled and put a build up of funk in the lungs but it also holds in moisture instead of repelling it. if baby has a rash, let air dry as much as possible and then use a barrier cream like BALMEX,DESITIN, OR BOTTOM BUTTER

  9. I took child care in school. And i was told it was harmful to an infant if you use a lot. its not the powder but the smoke dust they breath into their lungs. It can cause upper respiratory.in fections in infants. Can be treated with antibiotics. If your baby is whezzing you might won't to see the ped..

  10. deoderant gives you cancer, cell phones cause brain tumors, and baby shampoo causes blindess and if you dont sendthis to 10 people in an hour you will die or some other absurd thing......it's all just people freaking out over nothing. If it was harmful, it would be all over the news and it would be pulled off the shelves faster than you can say this whole thing. Try not to read these chain mails, especially when it concerns your child, it will just worry you an ulcer.

  11. Yes it can if it lines the lungs. .also another very dangerous substance is baby oil.  A baby should never be around oil.  If that is inhaled, it lines the lungs and cannot be removed. IT will sufficate the lungs.
