Question:

Baby rabbits in backyard?

Over the weekend, my family found some baby rabbits in our backyard. A few were already dead(looked like they were killed), but there are at least three still squirming around.

My mom called an animal control company and they said they could take the rest for $150, which my mom didn't want. I don't have enough money in my account or wallet to help them, but I don't want them to starve. Their mother has not come back as far as we know, and if we keep them outside, they'll either starve or be eaten(they're newborns).

Any suggestions?

  1. Either let nature take its course; or attempt to raise them.

I'm surprised there is no wildlife rescue organization willing to take them.

I found this website explaining how to proceed.  It gives a formula for rabbit milk replacement.

Wild rabbits are very fragile, and have been known to break their backs jumping inside a cage, by hitting the top.  So be careful.  I don't think they will be tame after they are weaned, so you will probably want to release them in the wild somewhere; or in your backyard if you wish.

  2. look at animal or rabbit rescue websites in your area.just google wild animal rescue in........... (your town)

  3. Locally, there might  be a willing person, shelter, breeders, owners or 4h to take care them.  Post a classified ad about them online?
