  1. do NOT give your baby bird worms for a start

Go to my profile and go to the conact me thing and ask me any questions there if you want ... I am in the middle of rearing a baby myself (woood pigeon) so i can help you alot

  2. If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly.   You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it.  If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest.  Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched.  If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival.  Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.  Look for a rehab here:

Do not attempt to feed these birds anything, either get them back to their parents or to a rehab..if you are inexperienced at feeding baby birds you can easily kill them just by giving them water.

  3. NEVER feed worms it can cause gapeworm and can be fatal, Never put liquid in a birds mouth it could aspirate and die.  Never feed bread, milk, hamburger. Feed it using the end of a stir stick or a straw cut to a spoon.  Feed soaked dog food mixed to the consistency of oatmeal.

    Recipe: Handfeeding Mixture

    1 cup soaked dog/cat food

    1/4 cup of applesauce

    1 hard boiled egg

Avian vitamins (follow dosage on package)

Around 750 mg calcium (I use Tums Smooth Dissolve tablet) ground to powder and dissolved in a little water.

    Water

Mix all ingredients together, and add enough water to make it the consistency of cooked oatmeal

Does the bird have feathers?  Unfeathered baby birds need to be fed every 20-30 minutes for at least 12 hours of the day. Unfeathered baby birds need to be kept in a nest like container lined with paper towel and covered with a towel.  the container needs to be placed on a heating pad that is also covered with a towel.

If you can find the nest then you need to put the baby back.  This is the best thing for the bird. If You can't then you need to find a wildlife rehabber to take the bird, it is illegal to have a native species as a pet and you could be given a fine along with the bird being taken away.

You also cannot raise this bird, cuddle it and play with it and release it when it grows. If it grows up in your care it will lack the survival instincts it needs to ever survive in the wild.  It will not know how to find food.  It will never join a flock.  It may land on humans and that is dangerous.  It would never survive.
