Question:

Baby shoe size question?

My brother bought my son, who is due in October, a pair of air jordans as a gift. They are so adorable, and he is so excited to see him wear them :-). My question is, i know you do not need to put shoes on a baby until they are walking, and I'm pretty sure it is actually better for the development of their feet if you just put them in socks, but my brother got my son a size 2 shoe. Should I return it and get the next size up, or will it fit him when it is a good time for him to start wearing shoes? I know every baby is different, but I am just completely lost on shoe sizes, so any guidance would help! How old was your baby when they fit in a size 2 shoe? Any help would be great, thanks!

  1. size 2 is pretty small. my daughter is 7 months and is in size 2 and she has small feet.  I would get a size 4 if you want him to wear them when he is walking.   I bet they are adorable.

  2. my daughter is 11 months old.  her feet are getting tight in a size 3 and shes an average sized girl.  she isnt walking yet.  keep a few thigns in mind (yes, i realize all babies are different...however) generally, boys are bigger than girls as babies, feet included.  also keep in mind that many boys hit developmental milestones later than girls (ie-walking) if i were you, id exchange them for a size 4 or 5.  at least that way youll be fairly certain that he will be walking by then.  i know its a bummer to ahve to wait so long, but its better than never seeing them used at al!

  3. Size 2 usually fits a baby somewhere around 6-9 months. Alyssa is 9 months and just getting into a 2, but a lot of babies her age are in 3 or 4 now. It is very unlikely your child will be walking while wearing those shoes in that size.

  4. When my son began to walk, I fitted him and he was a size 5.

I don't know why they even make shoes size 3 on down.  It is so silly.  It should be a crime to put your kids in articles of clothing that could hurt their growth when all they are doing is try to be "cute".  Babies are cute enough without needing shoes!

  5. my son is 11 months and he is in about 3-4 shoes, although he has chubby feet. he is not walking atm, but he is crusing. also, sometimes during the winter i would put shoes on my daughter when she was an infant to help keep her feet warm when we went out so you may get some use outta em. but i hope he knows that they will only be in that shoe size for like a month, LOL

  6. My baby wears shoes and I think they're pretty essential, especially because your baby will be little in the winter.  Socks are so easy to kick off, shoes are pretty essential.  And you're probably going to want the special shoes they make for babies learning how to walk rather than the really fun ones.  Enjoy those ones before he can walk!

  7. Well i like little baby shoes it depends on whether they are hard or soft bottoms i think my son wore a size 2 at 5 months but his feet were so little then. If they are soft then it shouldnt matter my son had plenty of shoes nefore he was walking and had no problems learning to walk. I would keep them and see how big his feet are if not you can send them to me i'm having a boy in october also lol jp But congrats They also have Jordan booties that are like lilttle socks and they are cheap if you decide to take them back. One thing I learned was you cant buy shoes ahead of time because babies are so funny they may skip a size.

  8. LOL my son was 6 months when he fit into size 2's ! I put shoes on his feet in the winter when it was too cold for just socks. The important thing to remember is that when they start walking is when shoes are not recommended. It could hinder his development.

  9. My son is 1 month old and he is huge he is using size 2.

  10. My daughter has TINY feet and she is still in size 1 and she's almost 7 months old.  The shoes obviously are for looks only.  You might wan to trade them in for a size one if possible if not you'll be waiting a little while unless he's a big boy.

  11. My daughter started pulling her socks off as soon as she discovered she had the power to do so.. putting tennis shoes on her with laces (not velcro) were the only way to keep her little feet from being bare.

She started in size 2 at around 6 or 7 months, but I've had a hard time getting them to stay on her narrow feet.  She's 11 months old now, barefoot anytime she can get away with it, and cruising the furniture..  I'm guessing she'll be in a size 3 by the time she starts walking independently which is when she'll actually need them.

I would say to trade the shoes in for a bigger size, unless you take him out to show him off a lot and want the cool shoes to complete an cute outfit.

  12. I'm not sure if you can judge by this because I think my son has bigger feet than normal but as an estimate, my son is 6 months and fits into a size 3 shoe.  Someone bought him a pair of size 2s and he only got a chance to wear them once (since I only put them on for a special occasion or pictures)
