I am actually the one preggo (5months) and this is my second child. NOT asking is it apprpriate to have a shower for the second baby because I really did not have 1 for the 1st. My question: should i work with a good friend of mine or my mom & sisters to throw a good shower for me? W/ my 1st born, a friend of mine had some of HER friends over and called it a shower. But I was grateful. I do not plan on having any more kids and I want a memorable shower for my baby. Also, no one knows exactly what I want as far as decor, or who to exactly invite. Just looking for confimation that this is an ok idea or your own alternate ideas or stories (if you've been where I am). I am due Nov 17, so I am planning for mid-October.

  1. well i just had a few work frends over and my mam and someother frends as well,(not with tea or fingure sandwhichs)

surfing,im a bit wacky but i would have tea and sandwhichs and presents.

  2. How do you know that you're not taking away something that someone else wanted to do? I think it's always more fun when someone else throws a shower for you - but that's only my thought. Maybe your Mom/Aunt/Sister/Grandma/friends would want to do this/ Nov is pretty far out there. You could even have a Sept /Oct shower and still be cool. Give others a chance to take the reins. As far as appropriateness goes, you can have a shower as many times as you have kids. Ppl don't have to attend - leave it up to them! BTW, congrats!

  3. When I put mine together (for my second and also last child) I called the shots and one of my friends helped me put it all together.  I had a couples shower and we BBQ'd.  All the girls hung out in the house and all the boys hung outside, cooking and BSing.  It was a great time and turned out how I wanted because I dictated it.  Have fun!
