  1. Try the local community center.  A lot of the time, they will take a deposit from you, and when your party is over and everything is fine, they will give back your deposit.

Or maybe a nice park.  Or another family member's or friends house.

    Good luck and congrats!

  2. We rented a pavillion at the park. It ended up being very nice. Will kids be there? If so, they will at least be able to run around and play without getting bored.

    Congrats!!

  3. A friends house, you said you are having 30 guests(which means those 30 people like you, hopefully lol) I'm sure one of them will be willing to let you do it there, or a local park, your house, many different places to do things cheap!

  4. A park if the weather is good. Other wise an old scout hall. They are very cheap. If not have it at a relatives house :)

  5. hope this article would help you...

  6. check with your local VFW (vet of foreign war) post. They rent out their halls and might be able to work with you. get the info and prices and tell them you have to check with your mom who is not there. then contact another one and check what price they give you. Ask a good friend of yours if it can be done at their house. Also if its nice out where you live you can rent tents and chairs cheap and do it in the yard. GL

  7. My mom & sister had a similar problem with my shower. I had 100 invited and 65 people attend. Anyhow way too many for anyone's house we knew. For 30 people I would ask your church or a friend to ask their church. If you know any one who lives in an apartment or a mobile home community they may have a club house and a lot of the time they are able to use that for little or no money.

A park would be okay, but if the weather is bad that can get tricky.

You may even want to check if your library rents out meeting rooms.

  8. A park?   Your church or synagogue may have a meeting space you could use?

But can I offer a slightly blunt comment?  When we have parties, we have parties that we can afford.  A 30-guest baby shower is HUGE --- and if your mom [who really shouldn't be throwing your shower anyway since she's an immediate relative] can't afford to host 30 people, maybe she needs to trim the guest list a bit.

  9. Is it nice where you live, what about a park?

  10. 1. why is she taking care of all the food???

I plan parties and weddings on the side -- and alot of them are Budget friendly!!!

    > some of your "closest" friends can help with food - leaving your mother with $$ to get a hall.

a community center is the best bet -- or a park!

But seriously food can be as much if not more than the "hall" cost! a thought would be just cake and punch, or what about just a fruit salad. It's easy to plan a party at 2pm - after lunch and before dinner.

  11. Maybe a park pavillion
