I have a few questions.

My friends bunny had baby's.

And she wants me to find out a few things for her.

Her bunnys are 3 days old and they already took the dad out of the cage.

The baby bunnies fell out of the cage and they have a dog so they had to pick them up real quick and put them back in the cage.

Okay my first question is How old do the bunnies have to be for you to hold them.

Second qustion is, what kind of cage should they be in?

And should they be inside or outside.

And I'm not being lazy.! I just want to hear this from people that have experience.

Thank you.!

  1. You shouldnt overly handle baby rabbits, but once they are a few weeks old and their eyes are open they should be right to handle a bit more. They should be weaned by about 4 weeks of age.

If your friends dad took the male out of the cage after bunny had her babies there is a good chance that she could be pregnant again- make sure she is getting heaps of good quality food, fresh hay and veggies every day to keep her strength up and feed the bubs.

You can keep them inside or outside- if you have them outside the kits should be protected from the cold and draughts, so a nice big solid wooden cage is a good idea. Or you could consider making a sturdy box for bunny and kits to live in inside. Just remember that the cage will need cleaning regularly with so many little animals in there!

  2. I think bunnies have to be 3-4 weeks to hold them.

The mother would not recognize them if there is a human scent.

They can be in any cage..but not that small, i saw most people have the mother in with her babys in a box with a blacket under.

and should definetly be inside, so no raccons eat them.

  3. Ok my rabbit had Babies and they fell out of the cage, but we didn't get their in time and they were dead when we found them. She also had more babies a couple years later and they were born in the cage, my dad took them right away in the net my rabbit had made. It's ok to hold them right away to put them in the nest but if you touch them any more the rabbit will push them out of the cage or eat them, I know that sounds gross but it has happened to one of my friends. You have to wait 3 weeks. It doesn't matter if their inside or out, mine were outside the whole time.
